The Friends of the Belmont Common
has a vision for the Belmont Common, which includes the following:
- Retain, restore and
enhance the environment.
- Promote the use of the
Common by the whole community in harmony with the protection of its natural values.
- Introduce a management
strategy and environment program to enhance and restore the parklands for present and
future generations.
- Revitalise the natural
floodplain by reintroducing freshwater wetlands for wildlife.
- Increase and maintain the
biodiversity values on Belmont Common and the Barwon River.
- Involve the community in
the restoration of native grasses, trees and other indigenous vegetation on the Common.
- Establish environmental
education and interpretive facilities for people of all ages.
- Utilise the Council Depot
building as an environmental education and display centre.
